The only time and place where you could watch commercials was at cinemas. "Hurry up, we will miss the commercials" was the standard phrase. The fascination for commercials is hard to believe today, when we are totally drenched in them. The first TV commercial I saw was when TV3 started broadcasting in 1988. I still remember the commercial. It was a commercial for a perfume called Lou Lou by Cacharel. "Lou Lou - Oui C'est Moi". Very French, indeed. It's available on Youtube if you are interested. Looking back, the aesthetics have changed considerably since the 1970s. I particularly remember the Juicy Fruit ad. Young and sporty people engaged in water sports. The aesthetics today is quite different. You don't want to know and - definitely - you don't want to watch.
